The 22-year-old tennis player Emma Raducanu ends this year's campaign and has decided to continue with trainer into the 2026 season.
The British player reached the third round in three of the four Grand Slams in the current campaign.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events in 2025 as a result of a medical condition she has been fighting in recent days.
At 22 years old was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate before starting her preparations for 2026.
Her upcoming training will include her coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering again next season.
Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.
She was also playing far from freely in the third set in the match with Zhu owing to back discomfort that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.
These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.
The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.
Raducanu won 28 victories this year and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.
As Britain's top player made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.
Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.
The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.
The athlete revealed that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.
Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
