The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure by Critical Role, unveiled a new introductory sequence. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, outcasts, and criminals fighting hard and making their mark, while teasing at multiple agonizing backstories for key figures such as Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the song choice.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional song composed by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one released by the production company's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great nostalgic choice, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's opening fails to capture the hype and excitement that was part of the second campaign's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", written by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when cast member the performer wrote words to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the follow-up series at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "the new song" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's an impressive composition, but based on my understanding of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, the creators has stated that the animated show will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its opening appears as one of them.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on the streaming service from Nov. 19. If you can't wait before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of the second series, the original episodes are accessible on the audio platform and the video site.
