The Opening Game Pass Games of 2026 Show Xbox Is Still Fighting.

In numerous discussions, fans keep sounding the funeral bells for the Xbox brand. Microsoft's console just got outsold by a platform few have heard of. Xbox fan sites began covering about PlayStation for the first time. The past year represented an era of significant turmoil for Xbox and Microsoft. Yet, based exclusively on what's coming to Game Pass in 2026, it becomes clear that Xbox still intends to engage players with compelling titles on its premier subscription.

The Current Inclusions

A pair of titles you can play right now as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. The true anticipation is for the upcoming titles to Game Pass over the next few weeks that's worth getting excited about.

Upcoming Headline Games

Come mid-January, the platform will add the often-overlooked Star Wars Outlaws, a sprawling adventure that refreshes conventional open-world tropes with a space-faring criminal escapade. An additional significant inclusion is Resident Evil Village and its giant Lady Dimitrescu, previously described as "an ideal blend of horror and action."

Compelling Indie Titles

But even the smaller games set to join the catalog deserve recognition. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, an unjustly ignored roguelite that is incredibly fun, becomes available next week — and it's worth experiencing whether or not you experienced the first Lost in Random game.

The British post-apocalyptic game from last year might get its hooks in you remarkably quickly.

Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by Rebellion Developments, is also a game to check out. Ultimate tier members also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to anticipate.

A Solid, Curated Lineup

Ultimately, these aren't the most groundbreaking additions to Game Pass, nor are they massive exclusive blockbusters that validate the subscription by themselves. But Microsoft's additions here are rock solid. The lineup provides a solid mix of older titles you may have skipped and fairly new titles that failed to receive the spotlight they were due initially — rendering them perfect candidates to get a second chance on Game Pass.

Be prepared to part ways with The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
